Vicky Dilnot Counselling

I offer person-centred counselling for adults and young people aged 16 and over, providing therapeutic support for you to pause, reflect and explore what may be happening for you. Sessions are available online, face to face in a private therapeutic space in Wadebridge, or as outdoor walk-and-talk counselling sessions within the beautiful North Cornwall landscape.

Feeling genuinely heard and understood can be the starting point for meaningful change. With warmth, honesty and sensitivity, I will support you as you navigate life’s challenges, reconnect with yourself, build trust in your own voice and move towards greater wellbeing.

Growth and change is possible, and the journey is of great value.

ABOUT ME AND MY THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

IMG_3409.jpeg

As a fully qualified person-centred counsellor, I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My approach is deeply collaborative, gentle, and tailored to your needs. Alongside my foundation in person-centred therapy, I weave in insights from psychology and neuroscience to help you understand how your mind and body respond to stress and difficult life events.

I work in a trauma-informed and neuro-affirmative manner, welcoming and celebrating all minds, including autistic and ADHD individuals, and I will adapt my practice to fit your unique way of experiencing the world. I also have a passionate interest in how nature and visual art can support healing, which can be integrated into our work together.

Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked in Education. My years as a teacher and school leader have given me a particular understanding of the emotional demands of leadership and caring professions, including the pressures that can lead to stress, overwhelm and burnout. I bring this experience to my counselling practice with empathy and without judgement, supporting you to explore what is happening and understand your needs.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework, helping to maintain high standards of professionalism and to ensure my practice is safe, ethical and centred around your needs.

COUNSELLING PRACTICE

NEURO-INCLUSIVE PRACTICE

Working collaboratively with you to create a counselling environment that feels safe, comfortable and accessible. I recognise that everyone experiences the world differently and I am open to adapting the way we work together to support your sensory, communication and processing needs.

TRAUMA-INFORMED

I am mindful of how past experiences can shape the way we think, feel and relate to others. I prioritise safety, choice, trust and collaboration. I aim to create as space where you can explore what you are experiencing at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. I am specifically trained to support victims of domestic abuse.

INTEGRATING NATURE & ART

I recognise the value of nature and creativity, offering opportunities to incorporate these into our work together. Where appropriate, this might include visual art within sessions or walk-and-talk outdoor sessions, helping us find ways of working that feel natural and meaningful to you.
